Items

Overview

Items are the individual products or services you offer on your menu. This section allows you to add, edit, and organize all your menu items, including their details, pricing, images, and associations with categories, variants, and modifiers.

How-To Guide

Creating a New Item

1. Navigate to the 'Catalog' section in the sidebar and select 'Items'.
2. Click the "Add Item" button.
3. In the "Basic Information" section:
   • Enter the Name (English) for your new item (e.g., "Cheeseburger").
   • Optionally, provide a Name (Arabic) and Description (English/Arabic).
   • Select a Parent POS Category from the dropdown. This is a required field.
4. In the "Pricing Details" section:
   • Enter the Base Price (USD).
   • Optionally, enter a Cost Price (USD).
5. In the "Organization & Identifiers" section:
   • Optionally, enter SKU and Barcode / EAN.
   • Select a Unit of Measure (UOM).
6. In the "Food & Beverage Details" section (if applicable):
   • Enter Calories (kcal) and Preparation Time.
   • Indicate if "This item is an ingredient".
7. In the "Additional Information" section:
   • Select Allergens and Classifications from the respective dropdowns.
   • Optionally, enter Tax IDs.
8. In the "Other Associations" section:
   • Configure Default Variant Configurations and Default Modifier Configurations as needed.
9. Upload an Image for the item or paste an image URL.
10. Ensure "Set as Active" is toggled on if you want the item to be visible immediately.
11. Click "Save Item".

Editing an Existing Item

1. Navigate to the 'Catalog' section in the sidebar and select 'Items'.
2. Find the item you wish to edit in the list.
3. Click the "Edit" icon (pencil) next to the item name.
4. Make the necessary changes in the various sections of the form.
5. Click "Save Item" to apply your changes.

Deleting an Item

1. Navigate to the 'Catalog' section in the sidebar and select 'Items'.
2. Find the item you wish to delete.
3. Click the "Delete" icon (trash can) next to the item name.
4. Confirm the deletion when prompted. This action cannot be undone.

Key Concepts

• SKU (Stock Keeping Unit): A unique identifier for each product.
• UOM (Unit of Measure): The unit in which the item is sold or tracked (e.g., pc, kg, liter).
• Variants: Different versions of an item (e.g., "Small", "Medium", "Large" for a coffee).
• Modifiers: Add-ons or options for an item (e.g., "Extra Cheese", "No Onions" for a burger).
• Menu Item Overrides: Allows you to set specific prices or availability for an item within a particular menu, overriding its default settings.
